The impression is built from more than simply shouting! I study Gordon Ramsay’s breathy, controlled speaking voice, clipped staccato rhythm, sharp changes of pace, rising impatience and sudden explosive bursts! I then adapt those vocal traits to the script rather than forcing every line into the same delivery.
In this video, I break down Gordon’s accent, cadence, inflections, volume changes and distinctive vocal tics that help make the impression convincing.
This was a fun one! I performed this bespoke Gordon Ramsay impression for a talking birthday card. It shows how the character can be shaped into a short, scripted personalised recording while still keeping the pace, attitude and vocal detail recognisable. I even got to insult the recipient!
I performed my Gordon Ramsay impression during a Beta Squad impressions video, featuring Sir Idris Elba. This segment was completely off-the-cuff and unplanned. I went straight into my Gordon impression and thankfully Sir Idris and Beta Squad loved it!
I couldn’t visit Ramsay Lane in Edinburgh without doing the impression! God knows what the people around me thought, but it had to be done!
I made this while preparing dinner! A fun example of Gordon in the kitchen demonstrating his cooking skills. His voice goes from calm and measured, to full-on frustration!
