Craig Cash is from Stockport in Greater Manchester and is the long-running narrator of Channel 4’s Gogglebox. The recognisable sound is not a broad generic Lancashire accent. It is a restrained Stockport and Greater Manchester delivery that’s usually most effective when the humour is allowed to land without being oversold.
That makes the style useful for scripts requiring dry observations, quiet sarcasm, a familiar northern character or a narrator who sounds amused without forcing every joke.
